Oops

So I've realized that I haven't posted in a VERY long time. Oh well, so biggie. So quick update, school went well this past year, I did very well grade-wise (woohoo!). I got a co-op job at Codman, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, which I will start in July. So that will probably be a big focus of my posts after that. I'm still hanging out with Chris, which is pretty great. Well actually, I haven't been hanging out with him currently, because he lives in Connecticut. But I might try to visit him before I go back to Boston. We'll see I guess. Tomorrow mommy and I leave for our cruise! Yay! We're spending two days in Florida before our boat leaves, because we have some days left on our hopper passes, and mommy and I love Disney. So I suppose I should start packing...

A Letter to Hives

Dear Hives,

I really don't appreciated the fact that you are on my body right now. You were not invited and are thoroughly overstaying your welcome. For some reason, even though we've never met before, you think you have the right to come and go as you please. One second, you'll be covering the entire back of my leg, and the next you'll be all over the underneath of my arm. What is this?

Because of you, Hives, I had to go out and find my two friends Benadryl and Zantac, and believe me, they are not cheap to hang out with. Luckily, they could make you leave. But now I have to keep them around like freaking body guards to make sure you don't come back. Such an annoyance.

I have no idea why you showed up anyways. It's not like I changed my shampoo or laundry detergent. You just showed up out of the blue. I had no clue you were coming.

So anyways, please don't come back. You are not welcome. I really don't ever want to see you again.

Being an adult

So I've decided that somethings about being away from home are great, and others... not so much. Pro and con list? I think yes.

Pros

• I don't need to ask permission to go places, or let someone know where I am
• I get to pick out my own food and eat whenever i feel like
• No job
• Don't have to drive anywhere
• There are always people to hang out with
• If I want to stay up late, someone else is probably up

Cons

• I have no car
• Someone doesn't buy my food for me
• No one makes my doctors appointments for me
• I have to actually cook
• If I'm messy, it affects other people
• I live with other people
• I can't walk around with no pants on
• Stupid homework

Alright, so that's a short list. I suppose some of it's very contradictory, but it's true. So anyways, that's my post for the week, sorry if it's lame!

Worst week ever? I think so...

So this past weekend, I've seem to have come down with a case of laryngitis. And when I say a case, I mean the worst possible case ever. I sound so stupid. And I'm trying not to talk, but that seems to be a completely impossibility, considering I live with 4 girls, and I've got major studying to do.

Which brings me to my next point of why this is the worst possible week ever. I have 3 midterms this week, all in classes that I don't feel comfortable with. I have Mechanics and Anatomy midterms tomorrow, a Physics lab due on Tuesday, and a Physics midterm on Wednesday. I'm pretty nervous about all of them. On top of all that, I have dance tomorrow night and Tuesday night. I think I might die.

But to make up for it all, Mommy is coming out next weekend to bring out all my winter stuff. And Jimmy Fallon is coming to give a show on Saturday. And next weekend it's Chris's birthday. Should I get him something? Is that like necessary?

Oh well, hopefully this terrible week goes by quickly and I get my voice back sometime in the near future.

Moving ahead...

Okay, so since this is pretty much a place where I update Tee and Mia on my life, I feel fine posting about this...

I like a boy. I know I already told Tee about this, but not the whole story. His name is Chris. So, he is my friends', Brian and Fred's, roommate. I knew who he was last year, he lived down the hall from me, but we never actually met or anything. I've been to my friends' apartment a bunch of times to hangout, and I always watch House, Lie to Me, and Castle on Monday nights with Fred. I never really thought that much about Chris, he always seemed kinda like a big jock/meathead to me, not really that smart or have much to add to a conversation that was interesting. But let me tell you, do not judge a book by its cover! He's actually so smart! We've had some pretty great conversations, and he's helped me out in my A&P because he took it last year. Oh, and another plus: over the summer he worked as a dessert chef. How freakin awesome is that?!? Except for the fact that he's going to make me fat. He cooks so well, it's crazy. And last weekend... he kissed me! AHHHHHHH!!! Please don't make fun of me lol I just haven't been this excited about someone in a very long time. I always get those little butterflies when I see him or when he texts me. I know it sounds stupid. And it's funny, I broke up with Jake just about a year ago. So I'm feeling like maybe it's time, and I'd be willing to see where this one goes? I'm just very excited about it right now. I think these things are always exciting when they first start out.

Alright, so that's pretty much the whole story. Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

THE SWINEEE

Ok, so I haven't posted in forever. But that's ok, since I'm pretty sure only Tee and Mia check this, and they probably haven't in forever. So it's all good.

Anyways, I'm back at school, have been for a few weeks now. Classes are crazy, I'm always drowning in work. But at least Jackii is in the same major and we have 3 of the same classes, so someone else in the room shares my pain. This semester I'm taking Calc III, Physics II, Mechanics (which is a statics and dynamics course, whatever that means...), and Anatomy and Physiology I. I really like A&P, I got my first big test grade back today (it was a 93. Yay for me!). But life has been pretty stressful. I've had a sore throat since the second I got back to Boston, which is completely no fun in the slightest. Mia came the first weekend I was here, which was super nice. We had to go home to bury grandpa in the new family plot up at the farm. The plot is really nice, I think Grandma did a really nice job picking out the stone. Mia and I had some much needed sister bonding time during the drive back, and I dyed her hair in my dorm room. I thought it came out nice, but I never heard if John liked it or not!

So today the school was providing flu shots to anyone on campus for $20, which I totally got because I'm freaking out about the flu. Jackii and I both get sick really easily, even though Jackii normally ends up in the hospital. This flu shot was just the seasonal one, but I'm really hoping the school provides us with the H1N1 vaccine when it comes out. One of my friends has a confirmed case of "the swine," as I like to refer to it. And it turns out that when you have it, you're normally contagious for a few days before you show symptoms. I don't have time to get sick. Normally if you have the swine, the school tries to make you go home. But she's from Texas, so she is confined to her room. She keeps asking me to come by because she's so bored, but I really can't compromise my health right now. I'm hoping she gets better soon because she keeps talking about how she's going to come back to class tomorrow. But I know that you're still contagious for at least 5 to 7 days, and she's DEFINITELY still contagious. AHHHHHHH. I really don't want the swine!

Music

So last weekend I went to All Points West, a music festival near New York City. It was absolutely AMAZING. There were a lot of bands there that I knew I liked, and a ton that I had never heard before and fell in love with. To recap, here are some of my favorites:

Friday
-Jay-z. So freakin good. He did an amazing tribute to the Beastie Boys (who couldn't make it to the festival due to Garth having cancer) which was No Sleep til Brooklyn. AND he gave shoutouts to the crowd, and said hi to me and my friend Chris.
-Yeah Yeah Yeahs. A little weird, but really really good.
-Vampire Weekend. Possibly now one of my favorite bands. I hadn't really listened to them much before, but I'm so glad we stood out in the rain to hear them. They were getting just as soaked as us, but they still put on a great show. The lead singer was just so... I can't describe it. I just felt like he was so excited to be there, and happy that we were all there to hear him sing. So good.
-Ra Ra Riot. We only got to hear the end of their set, but they are coming to Boston in the fall, so I'm excited to hear them again. They have two girls in the band that play cello and violin, which really adds something else.

Saturday
-Arctic Monkeys. Very good.
-Crystal Castles. We heard them on our way out. We only heard a few songs, but we were dancing the entire time. Kinda techno-ish, but better.
-the Cool Kids. Haven't listened to them too much before, but I liked them. A good live show, fun to dance to.

Sunday
-Silversun Pickups. A huge surprise. I did not expect them to be as amazing as they were. I know a few of their songs, but they are soooo much better live. The lead singer just has so much presence. The bassist is this absolutely adorable girl, I wish i could be her. And the drummer was so sick. He looked possessed, but in an awesome drummer sort of way (if that's possible?).
-We Are Scientists. Officially my favorite band of the weekend. I've heard a few songs of theirs, but their recordings do not show them justice. Before they played "After Hours" they said that they normally like to play it when the sun goes down, but they would have to play for three hours because it was only like seven. Well, by the time they ended the song, a huge cloud came and made it look like the sun had gone down. I was amazed. Please listen to them. They are my new favorite band.
-Coldplay. There is nothing to say here. They are so amazing, but also give off a really down-to-earth vibe. You can just tell that they love to make music and that they are so happy that everyone came out just to hear them.

So there you have it. If you haven't listen to one or a several of these bands, I highly recommend it. It was truly an amazing weekend.
